  • Press and hold the Alt key, then, at that point, select OK. Try not to release the Alt key until your file is open.
  • Note: QuickBooks will show a blank screen. Assuming you can feature a QuickBooks menu simply by floating your pointer to it, your company file is open.

Solution 3: Open an Example Company File

Opening an example company file helps you differentiate whether the problem is with your company file or with QuickBooks itself.

  • Assuming that the example file opens, your company file may be damaged or the organizer where the company file is saved. Try duplicating the file in an alternate area.
  • If the error persists, use a new reinforcement or ADR to reinstall your file. Assuming that your reinforcement or ADR is not enough to get you in the groove again, check for fundamental information loss.
  • If the example file returns the same error message, continue to setup 4.

To open an example file

  • From the No Company Open window, select Open an example file.
  • Select an example file on the menu.
  • To duplicate the company file in the optional field

Repeating and opening a company file from an alternate area may assume that the envelope where the company file is saved has been damaged or “too deep” where it has exceeded the restriction of the file structure. If you get the same error after moving the company file to an alternate region, the company file or your QuickBooks installation may be damaged.
