I won’t delve into the “ethics of capitalism” and how the Internet was ruined by advertising corporations.
Do know that you can block ads very easily with extensions such as uBlock Origin with the added benefit of having to load less content, leading to a more reactive experience when navigating the Internet. They work on almost every single website you can think of, and include textual ads (like sponsored google results), images, and also videos (like youtube ads).
There also exists solutions like PiHole which act as a self-hosted DNS server so that you can configure ad blocking at the network level on your router and have every device automatically no longer be a constant intrusion on your attention span that you never agreed to.
For youtube there also exists an extension called SponsorBlock which allows people to submit to their servers what segments of youtube videos are paid endorsements of X product and automatically skip over it, or warn you in the title that the entire content of the video cannot be distinguished from an ad in the case of Tom Scott videos. Be aware that this has privacy implications, as they need to know what videos you are watching (you send them this data via the extension) to be able to tell you when the sponsors might be.
