Goodbye Tumblr

Hello Mastodon and Plume (you have to click on this thing to read the rest of the article)

Hey fellow Tumblr purge evacuees, it's the same Banshee that you know and love, but on a different site.

If you haven't followed me before on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or my website then let me tell you a bit about myself:

I'm Banshee, and this is my (new) blog about magic(k), occult, necromancy, ancestor veneration, witchcraft, mythology, history, ancient civilizations, anthropology, etymology, and other esoteric subjects, as well as personal ramblings and things that make me laugh.

While I have an actual website with a WordPress-style blog, I love the direct interaction with followers that microblogging platforms provide. So I am now migrating my Tumblr over to here because it is impossible to discuss the topics I blog about without touching upon "adult" themes. Also I'm hella pan/bisexual so I'm not gonna give up posting the "female-presenting nipples" that tumblr has so callously banned.

Why is this blog called "bodaciousbanshee"? Mostly because I like alteration and Banshee is what my friends call me, but bodacious is a word that evolved in American English from the words “bold” and “audacious”. It is taken to mean audacious in a way considered admirable, and even attractive. As a small child I took the word to be somehow connected with Boudica, the ancient warrior queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe. As an adult I discovered that the word and the name are etymologically unrelated. Still, I can’t break such a long held mental association. Besides, Boudica was a pretty bodacious lady. My name, "Banshee" comes from the Irish “bean sidhe”, literally meaning “fairy woman”, but usually used in reference to female spirits that scream and wail to warn of impending death.

So yeah, that's me. I look forward to entertaining you through this new blogging medium.
