Like a few people here, I'm from Tumblr—transhumanish there as well—and probably won't stay here. I just made this blog impulsively to explore a bit. To test out what posting is like (and try to be at least kind of interesting) I'll share a few relatively simple improvements on the human body I hashed out with a friend a couple of days ago:
-
extra pair (or two) of arms: Ideally attached roughly on the (current) shoulder blades but down the torso a bit is okay too. Self-explanatory, two arms is obviously not nearly enough. Branching into two forearms at the elbow is #aesthetic for sure but probably much less practical.
-
mirrored opposable thumb: By which I mean an additional digit, comparable to the thumb, on the other side of the four normal fingers. Maybe only have this on one pair of arms. More dexterity, more better.
-
prehensile tail, maybe with a grasper at the end: Honestly I'm not so sure about this, but my friend was enthusiastic. Kinda hot at least, and probably convenient at least sometimes.
-
expanded FoV: Could be full 360-degree vision with a couple extra pairs of eyes, or just close to that—I'm particularly fond of eyes on the front or back of hands, for both convenience and aesthetics (though distance to the brain could be an issue, some hand-eye coordination could be done locally).
-
cuttlefish skin: Speaks for itself. Who wouldn't want to vibrantly expressive, full-resolution skin? Bonus points for full conscious control.
-
bigger head: This isn't very cool itself (though is arguably good as a step towards the Ideal Form of the anime girl), but necessary for the extra brains to control everything else. Sucks to give birth to, but we have Caesarean sections now so will be possible at least (a lot of this could be done post-birth as well), and anyway if any of this stuff were possible I'd be surprised if natural birth were still the most common way of making babies.
(note on the tone: in case it's not obvious this is largely tongue-in-cheek, though I wouldn't be saying it at all if I didn't mean it, I'm aware of its silliness)

Lmao!
We should be like Klingons and have an "excessive" amount of backup organs.

How about unlimited new sets of teeth? Have them fall out and regrow every few years like a shark!
