Bref, vu que j’ai pas mal d’amour pour ce moteur, j’ai accepté de tout reprendre depuis le début et de ne rien prendre pour acquis; il m’a donc fallu repasser sur l’interface de l’éditeur et… y’a déjà un truc que je pigeais pas: l’arborescence dans laquelle sont affichés les nœuds utilisés dans la scène courante. Comme sur Unity, j’étais parti du postulat que tous les éléments affichés représentaient l’intégralité de ce qui composait le projet; ok mais, dans ce cas, une fois que, admettons, j’ai créé un objet Player et que je souhaite désormais créer un objet Car: je fais comment ? Je ne vais quand même pas faire hériter Car de Player, si ? Non, ça n’aurait aucun sens. En fait, Godot affiche, comme je l’ai dit plus haut (il n’y avait aucun suspense, en réalité… TINTIIIIN), uniquement l’arborescence de la scène que tu as sélectionné. En d’autres termes, tu ne visualises jamais globalement l’ensemble de tes nœuds; tu les visualises scène par scène.
Mais c’est quoi une scène, bordel ?!
Si t’es niveau 1 comme moi en Godot et que tu galères à visualiser mentalement cette notion, voici mon explication (qui est, me semble-t-il, relativement proche de ce que tu pourrais trouver dans la documentation): une scène est un assemblage (normalement) cohérent de nœuds. Simple, non ?
Ok mais c’est quoi un nœud ??
Eh bien… c’est une scène, utilisée dans une autre. En fait, je trouve que le terme “scène” est très mal choisi, ce qui vient parasiter la représentation que l’on s’en fait. Ils (les développeurs) auraient tout aussi bien pu parler de “capsule” ou de “package”; ce n’est probablement pas très parlant non plus, mais au moins on comprend que c’est un objet abstrait qui encapsule d’autres objets. Les nœuds sont des ensembles de briques utilisées dans des scènes qui elles-mêmes pourront être utilisées dans d’autres scènes et deviendront donc les nœuds de ces dites scènes.

L’important est de garder en tête que Godot visualise ton projet scène par scène, ce qui signifie que tu ne visualises que les objets se trouvant dans la scène courante et que tu te dois de construire ton jeu avec des briques unitaires (c’est-à-dire indépendantes les unes des autres): les nœuds. Les nœuds ne sont en fait que des scènes qui sont utilisés dans d’autres scènes et ces deux termes (“nœud” et “scène”) n’ont de pertinence que lorsqu’ils sont utilisés dans un contexte précis. Si tu es en train d’ajouter des nœuds au fichier courant, alors il s’agit d’une scène. Si tu utilises ce même fichier dans un autre, alors c’est un nœud.
